Many Roads to Recovery

April 21, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

Free

Please join us to learn more about Recovery, Harm Reduction and life saving measures, medication assisted treatment, recovery coach’s in our emergency departments, peer supports and help in our community, and help for families experiencing addiction. Our expert panel will cover a multitude of topics followed by a Q & A period from participants.

Medication Assisted Treatment and Dual Diagnosis

Dr. Ali Shamsi is the Medical Director of our new Dual Diagnosis Unit and Interim Chair of Psychiatry for ECHN. Dr. Joseph Podolski is the Chief Medical Officer of ROOT Recovery Centers and continues to work for ECHN as a consult psychiatrist bridging the gap between medicine and psychiatry.

Harm Reduction and Life Saving

Mark Jenkins is the Executive Director of the CT Harm Reduction Alliance and has over 24 years of experience saving lives and reducing harm. Preventing death and harm is fundamental to the possibility of recovery for many people.

Emergency Department Recovery Coach’s

Jennifer Chadukiewicz is the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) Recovery Coach Program Manager and oversees all aspects of the statewide Emergency Department Recovery Coach Program. Jen co-chairs the Alcohol and Drug Policy Sub-Committee for Recovery and Health Management.

CCAR Recovery Community Center

Cathy Bergen is the CCAR Recovery Community Center Manager in Manchester at 102 Norman St. This is a safe place offering peer support in a variety of ways.

What about the Family?

Paige Nivers knows recovery and the importance of families getting the help that they need. Whole families, communities and systems are impacted by addiction and believe the myth that if the “addict” gets well, everything will be fine. Recovery does not happen in a vacuum nor does the associated damage to relationships and trust. Learn what you can do.

You will hear the latest in medical treatment, psychiatric treatment, how to save lives, statewide addition of peers in the ED, our community recovery center, and how to get help for families and those who love persons struggling with addiction.

This program will be offered virtually. Pre-registration is required.
