Early detection is the best protection. Getting regular health screening tests is critical to early detection of cancers and other health concerns.

Lung Cancer Screenings

If you are a current smoker who has smoked at least one pack a day for 20 years or a former smoker who has quit within the last 15 years, and are between the ages of 50 – 80 (for those on Medicare between the ages of 50 – 77) with no personal history of lung cancer, contact Karen Fiume, RN, OCN, CHPN for more details or to register.

Free Breast Exams, Cervical Exams and Heath Screenings

To support early detection and other health concerns, ECHN participates in the Connecticut Breast and Cervical Early Detection Program, as well as the WISEWOMAN Program for heart disease screening.

These services are available to women between the ages of 21-64 who have no health insurance or have a high insurance deductible and are income-eligible. The Breast/Cervical Program offers a clinical breast exam, mammogram, pelvic exam and pap test, along with additional imaging/testing if needed. The WISEWOMAN Program includes free health screenings, such as blood pressure testing, cholesterol testing and glucose testing for prediabetes and diabetes, and additional health resources.
